Mr Mark described the death of the two leaders as the exit of two political giants.
He stressed that Nigeria required a tested and trusted leader with proven track records of good governance who would complement the executive as the 10th Senate president.
He further said that the position of the Senate President was not based on religion.
Mr Mark reminded gladiators that everything must be done to protect and preserve the interests and territorial integrity of the country.
Mr Mark called on religious leaders to do more in preaching the good news of peace, love and good neighbourliness.
Mr Tunde, who died on October 21, 2022, in a London hospital at 51, had battled cancer for over a year.
Paul Mumeh, a spokesman to the former Senate President, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
The open-secret ballot system will be used during the exercise, which is being coordinated by former Senate President David Mark.
