Mr Jimoh said the move was designed to prevent crime, vandalism of equipment, theft and other offences.
He noted that the highway was designed with an underground drainage system.
He said the request followed presidential approval for NNPCL to withdraw funding from the road projects.
According to him, the project has attracted widespread appreciation from residents of the area.
The Asagba of Asaba commended FG for effectively completing the second Niger bridge.
Mr Umahi said: “Nobody will be spared. Discipline is our watchword. Diligence is our watchword.”
He urged state governors to secure their respective states.
Mr Umahi extended his wishes to the management and staff of the federal ministry of works.
He noted that unauthorised closures worsen traffic congestion and public hardship.
The minister apologised to all road users on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway to bear with the ministry.
