The minister inaugurated four road project committees to maintain the road but also to ensure that contractors implement the contracts signed.
Works minister David Umahi says the federal government will begin immediate reconstruction of the collapsed Enugu-Port Harcourt bridge.
According to her, the minister reminded them that everyone must unite to deliver Nigeria from total collapse.
They complained that they live far away from the office and there was no way they could resume early.
According to the former Ebonyi State governor, the road will be constructed entirely with concrete, rather than asphalt, which costs more.
“We will change all of the expansion joints on Long Bridge,” she said.
The minister said states in the South-East were not fairly treated on the MTN Nigeria Tax Credit decision, adding that he was confident President Bola Tinubu would address the injustice.
Mr Nwifuru also urged the federal government to address the issue of road construction by ministries and other entities not connected with construction.
Mr Umahi left the Senate after being appointed the country’s minister of works by President Bola Tinubu.
The minister said he would meet with regional directors to ascertain the need for such augmentations to establish whether they were merited.
