The police’s intervention in such matters is nothing less than using a sledgehammer to swat a fly.
Omoyele Sowore, publisher of SaharaReporters, announced the remand Mr Farotimi on Wednesday.
Mr Farotimi had said he was being targeted by UBA CEO Elumelu and Mr Babalola, whom he accused of deploying the police to harass and monitor his movement.
“We, therefore, demand the immediate release of Dele Farotimi, as his arrest lacks any basis under the laws of Lagos state,” stated NBA.
Mr Obi said Mr Farotimi’s arrest “is a gross misuse of police powers and a grave assault on the principles of democracy and justice in Nigeria.”
Mr Farotimi earlier raised the alarm over police’s plot to abduct him over Mr Babalola’s petition despite honouring their invitation.
The warning followed what the regime termed “unguaurded incendiary remarks” against the federal government and President Bola Tinubu.
“I do not walk in the company of murderers…#Enikure #LekkiMassacre,” the lawyer tweeted on Wednesday morning.
The governor said the “walk for peace” was to help facilitate a better society going forward.
