The suspect said, “I don’t know what triggered him against me.’’
Mr Edafe said arms, ammunition, cartridges, laptops, and mobile phones were recovered from the suspects during the period.
Mr Edafe said further investigation led to the arrest of two other suspects in Mosogar, adding that they were suspected to be members of the Aiye confraternity.
The Delta State CP urged members of the public to provide useful, timely and credible information to the police.
The police spokesman said, “During the gun duel, four of the suspected kidnappers were shot and later gave up the ghost, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.”
Mr Edafe said, “Those days when brutality and incivility go unchecked.’’
The police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspect sold the baby after lying to her boyfriend that the child had died and had been buried.
Mr Edafe said, “He said he belongs to Vikings confraternity and was vying for number one position.’’
“The suspects were receiving kidnapping ransoms with their accounts.’’
The police spokesperson explained that the suspect “lures them by telling them that they are coming to Delta State to work as a sales girl in a restaurant.”
