Several communities in the Kwara North have come under consistent terrorist attacks in recent times.
Peoples Gazette gathered that the armed gunmen attacked the community around 8:00 pm and started shooting indiscriminately.
Terrorists killed close to 200 earlier in February and abducted about 100 people in Kwara.
The governor said the committee would engage community leaders on rebuilding efforts, assess the needs of survivors, and address other outstanding issues.
“The soldiers arrived in the communities last Friday and spent just one hour there…Tuesday evening, the terrorists stormed the villages,” a resident told The Gazette.
“The chief’s wife, his mother and three of his children are missing. That makes five people from his household unaccounted for,” a resident stated.
“Seventy-five local Muslims were massacred simply for refusing to surrender to extremists who preached a strange doctrine,” stated the Kwara government.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has constituted a three-member panel to investigate the causes of the recent students’ protest at Kwara State Polytechnic.
The suspected bandits, who were intercepted by troops during an operation in the area on Friday, have been taken into custody.
