Governor Hope Uzodinma has advised Imo youths to shun the use of illicit drugs and embrace productivity.
In a remark at the brief ceremony in Owerri, Mr Uzodimma promised to enthrone a legacy that ensures rancour-free politics in the state.
“What gladdens me about the victory of the APC in both Kogi and Imo states is that Nigerians are appreciative of good governance.”
The candidates spoke shortly after casting their votes at their various polling units amidst low voter turnout.
The electoral office promises efficient transmission infrastructure, but scepticism lingers over its failure to rely on results uploaded to its servers during the general election.
“I am, therefore, with every sense of responsibility and love, appealing to the leader of this group to rescind his decision to order a sit-at-home.”
Again, the commission has promised that polling unit results would be uploaded directly to INEC’s viewing portal, even in largely rural states like Kogi and Bayelsa.
Eyewitnesses reported a complete standstill of vehicular activities along the airport’s access roads and driveways.
The directive is to protest the recent brutalisation of the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero.
“This is to demonstrate our outrage and stop the continuing violation of the rights and privileges of workers in the state,” said the NLC president.
