He said the service had 81,358 inmates nationwide, adding that 53,362 were awaiting trial.
Mr Oshiomole said he was unhappy with the services being rendered to inmates by the NCoS.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo said this was to decongest prisons, improve facilities and enhance staff and inmates’ welfare nationwide.
“Consequently, the principal suspect among the duo, Abba Kala, has been recaptured.”
Mr Tunji-Ojo said he received updates on passport enrolments daily.
“I don’t lead from the back; I lead from the front. We will try, and we will do our best to provide leadership built on the foundation of your support,” he said.
The NCoS boss said stigmatisation of ex-offenders was indeed a challenge to modern corrections.
The feat is a product of an MOU between the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Port Harcourt and Biofil Technology Nigeria Ltd.
The controller general admonished the beneficiaries to note that promotion comes with additional responsibilities, urging them to brace up.
