A Kaduna magistrates’ court on Wednesday ordered that a labourer, Jamilu Ado, be flogged for stealing clothes worth N50,000.
Mr James, a resident of Barnawa, Kaduna, is standing trial on two counts of fraud and stealing.
A 37-year-old man, Jonah Francis, appeared before the Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting and damaging his friend’s car.
The convict, who pleaded guilty to the offences, begged the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that he committed the offences out of hunger.
The prosecutor said that the complainant, Vincent Timothy, had asked the defendant to vacate the shop because the defendant had not paid his rent for a whole year.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the changes preferred against him.
The police have charged Mr Amos with illegal possession of firearms.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 15 at Barnawa area of Kaduna.
The magistrate adjourned the case until September 11, for bail application.
