FCT minister Nyesom Wike says Abuja residents of the territory will get positive news within days regarding efforts to tackle insecurity in the FCT.
He said the JTF also carried out clearance operations in the bushes and forest bordering the FCT.
Six FCT area councils and other stakeholders shared the over N3 billion allocation.
The officers are to manage traffic in every part of the FCT to ensure free movement of election materials as well as those on essential duties.
Mr Bello added that the PVCs of FCT residents were already at the Area Council Offices, and were being sorted and arranged according to polling units for easy and hitch free collection.
The ministry spokesperson said the directive was due to rising insecurity and threat to the lives and wellbeing of the students.
“The royal fathers who are the custodians of the people should come up with new strategies that will put an end to this menace.”
A visit to some polling units in the CBD revealed that both INEC officials and election materials were arriving ahead of the election.
Criminals and kidnappers have been running riot around area councils in Nigeria’s capital territory recently.
Residents living in communities in Abuja located at the outskirts of the capital city are living in fear due to kidnapping activities by bandits over the years.
