AFRICOM said, “No U.S. or Nigerian forces were harmed. The targeted operations eliminated more than 200 terrorists, including Abu-Bilal al-Minuki.”
In May, U.S. forces in collaboration with Nigerian army carried out airstrikes, killing Abu-Bilal al-Minuki.
The airstrikes followed operations carried out on Monday.
The U.S. authorities designated al-Minuki a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) on June 8, 2023.
“He will no longer terrorise the people of Africa or help plan operations to target Americans,” Mr Trump added.
In recent weeks, Boko Haram terrorists have intensified attacks across Borno State.
The terrorists reportedly stormed the military base in the early hours of Monday, burnt down the base, and carted away ammunition cartels.
The army warned that it will no longer condone reckless social media posts of injured or slain soldiers.
“Regrettably, one gallant officer and six soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice while five other soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries,” said the army.
The insurgents reportedly disguised as friendly troops to enter the fortified headquarters of the powerful 156 Task Force Battalion in Mainok.
