”With this restoration, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company is now able to supply electricity to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers,” said TCN.
“Prompt reporting of suspicious activities will greatly help in preventing such incidents and bringing perpetrators to justice,” TCN said.
Ms Mbah stated, “The announcement by BEDC’s inability to deliver power to its 33kV customers to TCN’s maintenance activities was not true.’’
TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said the affected towers, T171 to T174, were compromised, leading to their collapse on Tuesday.
She said TCN had mobilised its engineers to the site and conveyed necessary materials to repair the snapped sections of the 330kV Omotoso – Ikeja West transmission line.
The grid collapsed due to the partial system failure from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which continues to struggle for maintenance.
Mrs Mbah apologised for the inconveniences the maintenance could cause the affected electricity customers
On January 17, the underground 1×400 millimetres (MM) cross-link polyethylene (XLPE) copper conductor was vandalised.
TCN said the blackout was unavoidable and would occur between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
She said AEDC can now provide normal electricity supply from the substation to its customers in the affected areas.
