On January 17, the underground 1×400 millimetres (MM) cross-link polyethylene (XLPE) copper conductor was vandalised.
TCN said the blackout was unavoidable and would occur between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
She said AEDC can now provide normal electricity supply from the substation to its customers in the affected areas.
”These incidents pose a significant challenge to TCN’S operations as a company, ” she said.
TCN listed the areas to be affected to include Kubwa, Karu,Maraba, Nyanya,Masaka,Keffi, Kukwaba, and Apo Mechanic.
”The TCN apologises for the inconvenience this may cause, especially given the yuletide and end-of-the-year festivities,” the company said.
TCN’s spokeswoman, Ndidi Mbah, announced this in a statement on Friday.
She said that recovery efforts began immediately, and the Abuja axis was restored within 28 minutes.
The latest blackout makes it the tenth system collapse in 2024;
TCN said it restored bulk power supply through its 330-kilovolt (kV) Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line I at 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday.
