In Edo, troops of the 322 Artillery Regiment arrested five suspected kidnappers in Emaudo, Esan West council area.
The statement also noted that management had suspended motorcycle operations in the Nsukka campus.
He said the items recovered from the suspects were two motorcycles, daggers, machetes, assorted charms, gunpowder and five mobile phones.
The rescued victims were identified as Temitope Samuel, 42 and Mohammed Sani, 40.
Among the adopted reports is a petition by 530 disengaged staff members of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA).

Mr Shaibu urged personnel to remain disciplined and professional.
The operation was carried out on May 24.
“Such lessons remain critical as Nigeria confronts evolving threats including terrorism, insurgency and banditry,” he said.
The army urged residents to continue supporting ongoing operations with credible intelligence.
