The state coordinator of NOUN, Nigerian Correctional Service, Jennifer Nwonyi, presented the degrees and diplomas to the graduates at a virtual convocation held at the Enugu Custodial Centre.
”We are also empowering members of staff through our welfare scheme.”
He said the service has numerous workshops and skills acquisition centres for the training of inmates in various handwork.
“We are here to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s 72nd birthday and share love with the inmates.’’
Mr John said that the initiative would contribute hugely in reducing insecurity in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Correctional Service has decorated 104 newly promoted officers in its Enugu command.
He expressed confidence that the incoming controller would take the command to the next level.
“Statistics shows that 69 per cent of the inmates in custodial centres are awaiting trial.’’
“This year will remain memorable for the service.’’
Mr Tunji-Ojo also called for a speedy investigation into the matter to unravel the truth.
