Long queues of vehicles at filling stations have been reported in some areas in Abuja.
There are reports that in some of the filling stations dispensing fuel, the product is being sold for between N170 and N200 per litre.
The board chaired by Margery Chuba Okadigbo, was charged o focus on profitability.
NNPC said the fire was contained within two hours.
“Establishing a beneficial ownership register had helped Nigeria “track, reduce and arrest corrupt practices.”
“The NNPC is once again giving Nigerians strong assurance that we have product sufficiency that will last far beyond the festive period,” said the statement.
The NNPC GMD said the newly-inaugurated LPG plant would “reduce the cost of energy for Nigerians for the fact that LPG is cheaper than any other product…”
NNPC boss Mele Kyar says the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) will attract more business investments and tackle the fiscal issues the sector has been struggling with.
The Lagos-Badagry expressway is part of the projects the NNPC is funding under the Tax Credit Scheme among 21 roads selected nationwide.
“I urge all the regulating authorities to sanction fuel station owners. They are making people suffer unnecessarily, and it’s for their selfish reason,” stated Mr Audu.
