The magistrate adjourned the case until June 3, for mention.
“When the complainant discovered that the petrol had been stolen, he ordered the arrest of the defendants,” the prosecutor said.
The defendant is facing a one-count charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty.
A 24-year-old man, Moses Kalejaiye, on Friday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for stealing N2.6 million.
Mr Adeosun told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 11 at 2.30p.m. at Ajara Tande, Badagry, Lagos
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate said that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed.
Mr Adekomaiya said that one of the sureties must be a grade level 12 civil servant in Lagos.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
