Mr Utomi’s statement comes barely a day after Mr Obi joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
Mr Igboke stated that Mr Obi left LP due to the inability of the party to manage its own internal crisis.
The APC said, “A man who can so conveniently return to his vomit, without remorse or even a whimper, cannot be trusted with the destiny of a nation.”
Mr Obi said, “We have one year now to determine who went to school and who didn’t go to school.”
Mr Obi stressed that his decision was not about personal ambition but based on the country’s future.
The governor stated, “If you remember, I joined the Labour Party before Peter Obi, so I did not join the party with him.”
Mr Obi said his decision to contest the presidency again was driven by his commitment to building a better-governed Nigeria.
Mr Obi said any measures taken to stop vote-buying but fail to address the fundamental issue at its roots would not materialise.
“This mandate is about tackling corruption and not any imaginary adversary or political motive,” the EFCC stated.
Mr Obi stated, “Nigeria cannot continue on a path of wastefulness, insensitivity, and misplaced priorities.”
