North Korea has vowed that it will never give up its nuclear weapons.
President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday said that North Korea had sent soldiers as well as weapons to support Russia in its fight against neighbouring Ukraine.
“Depending on the type of weapons provided, such a move may violate UN Security Council resolutions which Russia itself supported,” said the U.S.
North Korea has claimed to have tested a new type of cruise missile, the state media reported on Thursday.
Academics, officials, and others have frequently received fake emails purportedly from reporters of VOA’s Korean Service requesting comments.
The U.S. and South Korea also fear that North Korea could carry out a new nuclear weapons test at any time.
North Korea had tested nuclear-capable missiles several times this year, in addition to other weapons tests, thus violating UN resolutions.
On Sunday, North Korea fired eight short-range ballistic missiles into the waters off its east coast, making it the 17th successful launch this year.
The country is subject to tough sanctions, including from the United States and the UN Security Council.
The proposal was made in December 2021, but Washington has yet to hear a feedback from North Korea.
