Concerns persist about whether the government and market authorities have the necessary mechanisms to prevent fire outbreaks.
Kabiru Yusuf-Nadabo, a retired assistant corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, has called for relocating the Singer market to Dangwaro International Market in Kano.
The fire destroyed properties worth over N5 billion, affecting over 1,000 businesses and leaving seven people missing.
Mr Yusuf said, “The government would explore ways to assist the affected traders.”
“The owners have been issued notice to report to the commission preparatory to facing charges.’’
The owners of the warehouse are allegedly mixing original fertilisers with sand, repackaging and selling them to farmers.
