Ms John said operatives of the command successfully arrested two persons for vandalising public electricity infrastructure on Sunday at 7:20 a.m.
Ms John said the suspect was in police custody as the investigation was in high gear to track and apprehend his accomplices.
Ms John said that the command successfully rescued the victims on Monday, August 18.
“The operation, which led to the arrest of seven suspects, is a direct result of an ongoing effort to curb violent crimes in the region,” said the police.
The Akwa Ibom police command has apprehended a man suspected of being involved in serial ATM card fraud.
The police command in Akwa Ibom has arrested two suspected vandals and recovered stolen items in the Uyo metropolis.
Ms John said efforts were currently underway to apprehend other fleeing gang members.
Other recovered items included a bag of crayfish, a tambourine, an electric power amplifier, a conga drum, and three phones, according to a police statement.
The suspects, Christiana Ibanga and her boyfriend, Inyene Akpan, were apprehended for allegedly selling their own child for N450,000.
“He was found with firearms and substances suspected to be cannabis sativa while on a commercial motorcycle,” the Akwa Ibom police spokesperson said.
