Trader jailed sentenced to prison for stealing neighbour’s clothes

The Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 26-year-old trader, Umar Ibrahim, to two years’ imprisonment for stealing lace fabric from his neighbour.
The magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced Mr Ibrahim, following a guilty plea to theft.
Ms Pati gave the convict the option of a N200,000 fine and ordered him to pay N70,000 in compensation to the complainant.
While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the complainant, Naimu Idris, reported the case on March 24, at the ‘C’ Division Police station.
Mr Thiawur said the convict entered his neighbour’s house and stole the fabric and a wrapper worth N50,000.
