Trader sentenced to 28 months’ imprisonment for stealing iPhone 12 Pro

The Jos Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 21-year-old trader, George Dashin, to 18 months in prison for stealing an iPhone 12 Pro.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of theft brought against him by the police.
The magistrate, Hannatu Ashom, sentenced the convict to 18 months in prison, with an option of a fine of N120,000 on Friday.
The magistrate said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.
While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that officers attached to the area command on May 4, rescued and arrested him, where he was being beaten up on the street for stealing a phone from a shop.
Mr Gokwat said the convict stole the iPhone valued at N500,000 before he was caught.
He said the offences contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
