Two men in court over alleged theft, threat to life

Two persons, Lanre Ogunleye, and Babatunde Bolarinwa, on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over an alleged theft and threat to life.
Ogunleye, 30 and Bolarinwa, 21, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, threat to life and receiving stolen property.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences in February at Ajibode area of Ibadan.
Mr Folaranmi alleged that Ogunleye stole some phones and the key to a “Lady bike,”value of which were yet to be ascertained, from one Waziri Agbomeji.
He added that Ogunleye also stole a Samsung phone and a wristwatch belonging to Azeez Ridwan, worth N3,050,000.
He said that Ogunleye stabbed Ridwan with a Jack knife on the head and threatened to kill him.
Mr Folaranmi alleged that Bolarinwa received the Samsung phone, knowing it was stolen.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 86, 390(9), 427 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N2 million each with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 21 for mention.
