U-17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos face North Korea in crucial clash

Nigeria’s Flamingos will play North Korea on Friday in their final Group B fixture, as they hope to advance to the knockout phase of the ongoing FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
The bronze medallists of the 2022 edition need at least a draw against the Asian team to secure a spot in the round of 16, regardless of the result of the group’s other final fixture.
However, a defeat will leave the Nigerian team uncertain, as they will hope that results in other final group matches favour them to finish the preliminary stage as one of the best third-placed teams and qualify for the next round.
The Flamingos, in their second group fixture on Tuesday, defeated Puerto Rico 2-0 after a 2-1 loss to Poland in the group opener on Saturday.
North Korea, after thrashing Puerto Rico 6-0 and pounding Poland 6-1, top the group with six points, while Nigeria have three points from two matches.
