UNN suspends lecturer who allegedly impregnated student forcefully

The management of University of Nigeria, Nsukka has suspended Dr. Chigozie Odum, a lecturer at the department of Archaeology and Tourism for sexually assaulting a female student.
The indefinite suspension of Mr. Odum follows allegations of sexual harassment against him.
In a suspension notice dated February 15, signed by the institution’s deputy registrar, Achiuwa F.C., the university management asked Mr. Odum to stay away from his duty post until investigations on allegations against him were concluded.
“Following the accusation of sexual harassment made against you by a female student in the Department of Archeology and Tourism, the Vice-Chancellor has directed that you be suspended from duty immediately,” the suspension notice read.
“You are hereby so suspended from duty with immediate effect. You should stay away from your duty post until the final determination of the allegation against you. You should handover any University property in your custody to the Head of Department of Archaeology and Tourism.”
The institution also asked the bursar to place Mr. Odum on half salary until the university concludes its investigations.
Mr. Odum was earlier arrested by the Enugu State Police Command after the family of the female student filed a petition against him.
He was arrested for impregnating the female student after forcing her into sexual intercourse against her will.
