West Ham sack Potter after eight months in charge

West Ham United have sacked club manager Graham Potter after eight months in charge of the East London club.
The club announced this in a statement on Saturday.
“West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club.
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible,” the statement partly read.
The club also confirmed the appointment of assistant coach Bruno Saltor as its interim manager, while also announcing the departure of some of Potter’s backroom staff, including first team coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, lead goalkeeper coach Casper Ankergren, and goalkeeper coach Linus Kandolin.
The sacking of the Englishman comes amid a run of poor performances by the Hammers, who have managed just six wins in his 25 games in all competitions since Potter’s appointment, drawing 14 times and giving the former Chelsea coach a 24% win rate — the worst of his coaching career.
West Ham currently sit in 19th place on the Premier League table after securing just one win in five games so far this season.
Potter, who was appointed manager of Premier League sides Brighton and Chelsea in 2022 and 2023, respectively, was dismissed by the London Blues in September 2023. He remained out of management for two years before being appointed West Ham’s Head Coach in January this year.
