Woman arraigned for allegedly stealing six gallons of palm oil

A 22-year-old woman was on Tuesday, arraigned in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged stealing of gallons of palm oil.
The defendant, Confidence Onyekachi, is standing trial before the Magistrate L.K.J Layeni, on a one-count charge of stealing.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 10, at Market St. in Ojo.
She was alleged to have stolen six gallons of palm oil belonging to a nominal complainant, Amaka Okonkwo.
The goods were valued at N594, 000.
Mr Uche said the offence contravened the provisions of section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to January 27, 2025 for mention.
