World Cup Qualifier: Osimhen, Musa sink Liberia as Nigeria move closer to Qatar 2022

Nigerian Super Eagles made progress in the race for the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Saturday, defeating Liberia 2-0 in the World Cup qualifying game.

The Eagles grabbed a crucial away win and all three points maintaining the top spot in Group C.

Napoli’s striker Victor Osimhen opened scoring for the Eagles early in the game, converting a penalty 15 minutes into the game at Tangier.

The Eagles put up a good performance at Tangier, dominating the game against the home side.

Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa made it two for Nigeria, converting a second penalty in the extra time.

With Saturday’s win, Nigeria now has 12 points in 5 games, winning 4 and losing one game.

Nigeria will play their last game in Group C against Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday.

Cape Verde, who are second in the group behind Nigeria with just two points, will be looking for a win to displace Nigeria.
