Zamfara Attacks: Buhari suspends condolence visit over poor weather

President Muhammadu Buhari has postponed his scheduled condolence visit to Zamfara, giving poor weather condition as reason for the suspension.
Making the announcement in a tweet on Thursday, junior media aide to the president, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed that a new date for the visit will be communicated soon.
“President @MBuhari has cancelled his scheduled visit to Zamfara State today, due to poor visibility, a new date will be communicated to the public soon,” a tweet by Mr Ahmad read.
Mr Buhari was billed for Zamfara on Thursday for a one-day official visit to commiserate with the people and government over the recent killing of 58 persons in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the state.
However, despite giving bad weather as an excuse for postponing the visit, the President proceeded to Sokoto to commission a cement plant by manufacturing company, BUA Group.
Confirming the development, the Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle, disclosed that Mr Buhari was billed to visit the state after his engagement in Sokoto.
He reechoed Mr Ahmad’s excuse of poor weather condition, explaining that the president would reschedule his visit to the state next week.
In 2020, Mr Buhari was criticised for failing to visit Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina, where bandits abducted over 300 schoolboys, despite being on a week-long private visit in the state few days after the abduction. The president, however, sent a delegation comprising his service chiefs.
