Zamfara government to recruit 2,000 English, science teachers

The Zamfara government is set to recruit 2,000 English and science subjects teachers in the state, an official disclosed.
Wadatau Madawaki, the state Commissioner for Science and Technology, made this known in Gusau, the state capital, on Tuesday.
The commissioner spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting on “Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project” in the state.
The commissioner, represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Barira Ibrahim, noted that teachers’ recruitment remained one of the present administration’s priorities.
Mr Madawaki said the decision to recruit more teachers was part of the commitment to enhance teaching and learning processes in the state.
“Right from inception of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration, education has been accorded special priority towards reviving the sector.
“Very soon, we are going to embark on recruitment of 2,000 teachers across the state to bridge the gap in shortage of English language and Science subjects teachers in our schools,” he assured.
He reiterated the readiness of Mr Lawal’s administration to give all the necessary support to the AGILE project to succeed in the state.
Mr Madawaki commended principals of secondary schools for being alive to their responsibilities.
Also speaking at the event, the chairman, State Teachers’ Service Board, Muhammad Anka, commended the government’s commitment to the education sector.
Mr Anka assured that the government would not relent in promoting teachers’ welfare in the state.
In her remarks, the state coordinator of AGILE project, Sa’adatu Abdu-Gusau, expressed gratitude to the World Bank and Federal Ministry of Education for selecting Zamfara to be among the benefiting states.
