2026 FIFA World Cup: Police arrest two suspects over stolen England team items

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department has arrested two suspects pending investigation after items belonging to the England national team were stolen while in transit to Kansas City on Thursday.
According to reports, the team had completed their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida on Thursday and were given a day off ahead of flying to the tournament’s camp at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City on Saturday.
However, the vehicle carrying the team’s equipment from Florida to Kansas City ahead of the squad’s arrival was broken into in transit, resulting in the van arriving at its destination with several items missing.
BBC reported that training kits, balls, boots, among other items, are suspected to have been stolen. The Football Association were also in contact with the police on Friday night regarding the incident.
“We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening,” the Kansas City Missouri Police Department said in a statement.
The team is still expected to arrive in Kansas City on Saturday ahead of the Three Lions’ opening Group L game against 2018 finalists Croatia next Wednesday.
England will play Ghana in their second group game on June 23 before the final match against Panama four days later.
