Police arrest traffic robbers in Lagos

The Lagos police command say it has arrested two suspected robbers, operating during traffic gridlocks along Gbagada road in Lagos
Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said officers of the Ifako division of the command in Lagos, arrested the two suspects identified as Alaba Ibrahim and Hammed Ibrahim at Gbagada area of the state.
Mr Hundeyin said the suspects were arrested by police officers on patrol, “following credible information received about the presence of suspicious persons on Deeper Life Bible Church Bridge Gbagada.”
He added that the third suspect “took to his heels” when he sighted the police officers.
Mr Hundeyin said based on their investigation the police discovered that the suspects operate at that spot “during traffic gridlock, distracting motorists and subsequently carting away their phones and other belongings.”
“The suspects are currently assisting the police in an ongoing investigation to arrest the third suspect and other members of their gang. Suspects would be arraigned contingent on the outcome of the investigation.
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, while commending the officers for their resilience in fishing out traffic robbers, has directed that efforts be sustained towards eradicating criminality within Lagos State,” Mr Hundeyin added.
