Truecaller has announced a new SMS app that will provide users with the essential contents on their messaging app.

Truecaller said in a press statement on Thursday that the new app will protect users from scammers.

The messaging app caters to the evolving needs of consumers, making day to day communication easier and convenient for users to keep track of their expenses.

The Director of Business Development & Partnerships at Truecaller Africa, Zakaria Abdulkadir Hersi, said the new features added  into the smart SMS app will be useful for user to engage more effectively.

“Roughly 80 per cent of SMSes one receives daily are from businesses, disengaging users from important/useful messages. To combat that, SMS apps need to become smarter by filtering out spam and categorising useful information,” Mr Hersi said.

“At Truecaller, we constantly strive to offer the best user experience by adding unique features that fit in with our core mission: to make communication safer and more efficient for everyone.

“Truecaller has evolved into a powerful communication hub and for the people who wish to use the app to its fullest, we want to streamline the experience as much as possible for an efficient calling and messaging experience for our end user,” he added.

Also, the messaging app feature also offers a Smart Inbox that identifies unknown SMS sender numbers and SMS sender IDs are resolved to business names with logos.

The Truecaller company assures users that with the SMS intelligence built into the app, one can access the app both online and offline, while all content on the device remains.
