The All Progressives Congress (APC) has underscored the strategic importance of President Bola Tinubu’s United Kingdom visit, calling it a vital move to strengthen Nigeria’s economic diplomacy and global partnerships.

The party’s Lagos State chapter stated on Wednesday in Lagos, through its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, that the visit would facilitate key economic engagements capable of boosting investment and trade relations between both countries.

Mr Oladejo added that the visit would provide a platform for high-level discussions with government officials, investors, and development partners on critical sectors of the economy, including infrastructure development, energy transition, and technology transfer.

He further noted that the discussions would also cover education, security collaboration, and the expansion of opportunities for Nigerian businesses in global markets.

According to him, the project represents a significant step toward modernising Nigeria’s port infrastructure, improving trade efficiency, and strengthening the country’s position as a leading maritime hub in West Africa.

Mr Oladejo further stated that the visit underscored Nigeria’s commitment to deepening international partnerships, expanding economic cooperation, and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.

He added that, in a globalised economy, constructive engagement with key partners such as the United Kingdom was essential for attracting investment, boosting trade, and driving sustainable development.

He described the United Kingdom as a longstanding economic ally of Nigeria and expressed optimism that the engagement would unlock new opportunities for foreign direct investment, strengthen bilateral trade relations, and create jobs.

According to the spokesman, Mr Tinubu’s track record as a former governor of Lagos State demonstrates his capacity to leverage global partnerships for local development.

Mr Oladejo therefore urged Nigerians to view the visit within the broader context of nation-building and economic diplomacy, noting that purposeful global engagement remained vital to achieving long-term national prosperity.

He expressed confidence in the president’s leadership, adding that the outcomes of the visit would further enhance Nigeria’s economic prospects and global standing.
