ADC presidential aspirant Hayatu-Deen boycotts primary election over alleged rigging

Presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, says he will not attend the announcement of the party’s presidential results scheduled for Tuesday.
“I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today,” declared Mr Hayatu-Deen in a statement on X.
The presidential aspirant said his decision was connected with reports of widespread rigging which he said marred the exercise, adding that he would take decision on his next move.
“I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps,” the politician stated.
The ADC is making plans to announce the results of its presidential and elective positions’ primaries upon their completion.
Mr Hayatu-Deen, a former vice president Atiku Abubakar and ex-Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi are seeking the ADC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 poll.
