The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says its technical team is working tirelessly to upload the remaining 12 local government results from last Saturday’s Anambra governorship election to the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IREV).

Although INEC has announced incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo as the winner upon the conclusion of the vote count, only 12 of the 21 local government areas in Anambra have been uploaded on the IReV portal.

The LGAs already available on the portal include Onitsha North (313 polling units), Awka South (390), Orumba South (208), Idemili North (467), Ihiala (323), Oyi (207), Anambra East (241), Dunukofia (165), and Ayamelum (191).

On Monday, Victoria Eta-Messi, the director of voter education and publicity, stated that the technical team is already working to address the challenges hindering the completion of the process.

Ms Eta-Messi, in a chat with Peoples Gazette, said, “Well, the technical team is working on that already, but the concentration or preoccupation is uploading from the PU (polling units).”

“It is the PU results that is our preoccupation and not necessarily the local government results. Do we upload? Yes. It’s the PU results that we upload.

“So, if nine have even been uploaded, we don’t even look at that; the preoccupation is the polling unit results, and the Form EC8A is our major concern,” she told The Gazette.

Checks by The Gazette on Monday afternoon showed the IReV portal was last updated at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday.

A total of 16 candidates participated in the governorship election, in which Mr Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was announced the winner after garnering 422,664 votes to defeat his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who came second with 99,445 votes.

Mr Soludo had dedicated his victory to the people of Anambra on Sunday, while also lauding President Bola Tinubu for setting the stage for his success in the election.
