Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Wednesday convened a meeting of the ad hoc committee to combat online scams as the south-east Asian country ramped up its fight against cyber scams.

“The meeting was to review the progress made in the fight against online scams and to set out the next actions to wipe out online scams,” Mr Manet said in a social media post.

He said earlier this month that the fight against cyber scams was one of the government’s key tasks at present to ensure peace, security and public order.

He called on the authorities at all levels and people from all walks of life to join forces in eliminating online scams.
