Ekiti LG chairman urges farmers to be security conscious

The chairman of Ikole LGA, Bayo Omojola, on Tuesday urged farmers in the area to be security conscious whenever they were working on their farms.
Mr Omojola gave the advice while addressing some small-scale farmers in his office in Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti.
He said his administration was committed to the safety of the lives of residents and indigenes of the community.
The chairman advised the farmers to report any strange movement of unidentified individuals travelling across their farms located in the forest to the police or Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps).
“My administration has zero tolerance for crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and stealing. Anybody caught in any of these crimes will face the wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others engaging in such wicked acts,” said Mr Omojola.
He added, “I want to commend every small-scale farmer in Ikole Local Government Area because farming is not an easy task to engage in. God will continually protect you all.
“The safety of every farmer and resident of the communities as a whole is the priority of my administration.
“As you are preparing for the rainy season, I want farmers to always be security conscious and report any strange movement of unidentified individuals to the security agencies.”
Mr Omojola, however, appealed to the security agencies to be more vigilant and arrest individuals who posed any threat to the peace of the community.
