Entertainment firm plans two million-man solidarity march for Rivers governor

Desgol Entertainment Worldwide, organisers of the Rivers International Film Festival has announced plans to organise a two-million-person solidarity march in support of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Founder and Festival Director of RIFF, Kate Ezeigbo, stated this during an interview on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
Miss Ezeigbo said that the group chose to rally in support of the governor in recognition of his substantial investments in the entertainment industry and his commitment to good governance.
She said, “Fubara ensured that the body of the late Precious Ofurum, who passed away alongside popular Nollywood actor Junior Pope, was brought home and given a proper burial. The governor also made significant contributions to the 2024 Rivers International Film Festival and sponsored 25 surgeries for Nollywood practitioners and their family members.’’
Miss Ezeigbo highlighted additional initiatives undertaken by the governor during the film festival, including providing 500 people with free corrective eyeglasses and distributing medications to more than 1,000 individuals.
She added, “Through the RIFF, the governor also facilitated the training of more than 1,000 youths in various vocational skills.’’
The RIFF director said the planned solidarity march, tagged the “Feed the street concert,” would commemorate Mr Fubara’s 50th birthday on January 28.
According to Miss Ezeigbo, supporters of good governance from the 23 local government areas of the state will converge to show their support for the commendable work of the administration.
Miss Ezeigbo said, “We want to celebrate a peaceful leader who prioritises the welfare of Rivers State people and his significant support for the entertainment industry in the state. When a leader performs well, he deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated. Fubara has performed exceptionally and we are proud to identify with him as people of Rivers State and as members of the entertainment industry.’’
