Oluyemisi Rosiji, chairperson of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, has inaugurated medical equipment donated by the Lagos Paddles Lions Club to strengthen six primary healthcare centres across the council area.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday at the council secretariat, marked another milestone in the administration’s commitment to accessible healthcare.

Ms Rosiji emphasised that the intervention would significantly improve grassroots service delivery and enhance healthcare infrastructure.

Welcoming dignitaries, she expressed gratitude to the Lagos Paddles Lions Club for its humanitarian gesture.

She described the donation as timely, impactful, and crucial for vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly.

Ms Rosiji commended Seun Durojaye, president of Lagos Paddles Lions Club, and the club’s members for their consistent investment in community development.

According to her, their dedication reflects a true humanitarian spirit and strengthens government-community partnerships.

“This generous donation reflects the true spirit of selfless service and demonstrates what can be achieved through strategic partnerships between government and humanitarian organisations,” Ms Rosiji said.

Mr Durojaye explained that the primary healthcare centres were deliberately chosen because they serve as the first point of contact for healthcare services within communities.

He noted that the donation aligned with the Lions Clubs International’s mission to support initiatives that improve lives and promote healthier communities.

He emphasised that grassroots interventions remained vital to sustainable healthcare development.

A past president of the club, Lekan Owolabi, praised the project committee for its diligence.

He highlighted that proactive interventions save lives, strengthen healthcare systems, and foster collaboration between government and humanitarian organisations.

Benjamin Olabinjo, member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, lauded the club for complementing the government’s healthcare efforts.

He urged the proper maintenance and utilisation of the equipment for the benefit of present and future generations.

The event was attended by councillors, executive council members, management staff, traditional rulers, party leaders, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders, reflecting broad support for the initiative.

The six primary healthcare centres that benefited from the donation are Agbado-Kola PHC, Ilo-Ajegunle PHC, Iju PHC, Abule Titun PHC, Isokan PHC, and Adesola PHC.

Each facility received equipment designed to strengthen its healthcare delivery capacity.
