Three persons have been arrested in connection with the death of a pupil of International Staff School of Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu.

Police spokesman in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, said on Monday that the command investigated events that led to the death of the boy, Abdul-Rahman Dauda, who was knocked down by a moving vehicle while being chased by his teacher in Ikorodu.

Mr Hundeyin said three people have been arrested and remanded by the court.

Footage on Instablog shows the mother of the deceased carrying a placard to protest the death of her son in front of the school gate.

The online blog reports that the SS2 pupil was being chased by his teacher and got involved in a fatal road accident on October 28.

Noting that the “situation is regrettable,” the school management in a statement issued on Sunday claimed that three people were arraigned before the court on October 31, and were remanded at a correctional facility in the state.

Commiserating with the victim’s family, the school said that the incident was investigated by the management and the police immediately after the matter was reported.

According to the statement, “Subsequently, the case was taken to the court of competent jurisdiction, and appearances started on Monday, 31 October 2022.

“The three affected members of staff who were allegedly accused of complicity in the unfortunate situation are currently remanded at the Nigerian Correctional facilities in Lagos.

“As the case is already before a competent court, we seek the public’s prayers and understanding with the school Management and parents of the deceased at this moment of grief and sober reflection.”

The school management added that, “This statement is necessary to state the current situation to the public for record purposes. The situation is regrettable.”
