Lagos: Three dead as BRT buses, Danfo crash in Lagos

Three persons died while others sustained injuries on Wednesday in an accident involving two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT buses) and a “Danfo” bus along Ketu-Ikorodu Expressway in Lagos.
The accident happened around 7:00 a.m.
One of the BRT buses rammed into a billboard after a break failure. As a result, another BRT bus coming behind hit it, with another “danfo” vehicle ramming into passers-by at the bus stop.
The BRT buses affected are under a public-private partnership operated by the Asset Management Company in Lagos.
Taofiq Adebayo, the spokesman for Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) confirmed that three persons died in the accident while several people sustained injuries.
He said the victims are in the hospital receiving medical treatment while the bodies have been bagged and handed to LASAMBUS.
Mr Adebayo confirmed the accident was due to a brake failure from one of the BRT buses.
“Six to seven people have been injured and taken to the hospital,” Mr Adebayo said.
