Ondo poly rector urges staff to emulate retiring deputy registrar’s diligence

The rector urged the staff to emulate the retiree, describing him as an erudite scholar and a mentor.

The Acting Rector of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Adegun Olorunwa, has tasked the staff of the institution on diligence and hard work.

Mr Olorunwa made the call on Thursday at the polytechnic in Owo during the send-off of the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Samuel Ojo.

He urged the staff to emulate the retiree, describing him as an erudite scholar and a mentor.

According to the rector, the retiree has been useful to the institution, irrespective of the time of the day.

Mr Olorunwa said that Mr Ojo ensured a good relationship between the school’s management and various unions in the institution.

The rector stated that the institution would still be contacting him and tapping from his knowledge of wealth for the betterment of the polytechnic.

In his remarks, the retiree, who was also the director of public relations, protocol of the institution, urged various unions in the polytechnic to play complementary roles in moving the institution forward.

He stated, “To unions, play a complementary role and do not only criticise the management; create an avenue to increase internally-generated revenue of the institution. There is a lot to benefit when there is mutual understanding and good relationship between the unions and the management. Whatever we can do to keep this institution better let us do it.’’

Mr Ojo, who narrated instances of ordeal encountered in the course of service, appreciated God for sustenance of life.

He said, “It’s been God’s mercy for the journey so far. Also I recognise the immense support of my wife for giving my life a new story to tell. She is a mother indeed.”

In his goodwill message, Oloba of Uso, Oba Ademola Oyinbade, described the retired deputy registrar as a freedom fighter and an impactful mentor.

Similarly, the Acting Registrar of RUGIPO, Olugbenga Oloye, said that the retired deputy registrar was thorough, painstaking, hardworking, and a good communicator.

Also, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), RUGIPO chapter, N.F. Okoro, urged the retired deputy registrar to continue to lend his contributions to the polytechnic.
