Ooni pledges support for NIS

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has hosted the Osun Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Morakinyo Akinyemi, pledging to support the service.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has hosted  the Osun Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Morakinyo Akinyemi, pledging to support the service.

This was noted in a statement on Monday.

Mr Akinyemi recently assumed duty as the State Comptroller of NIS.

The monarch commended Mr Akinyemi and his team for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of respect and recognition for the role of traditional rulers in governance and societal development.

He reaffirmed his longstanding relationship with the NIS and commended the service for its critical role in safeguarding the nation’s borders.

Mr Ogunwusi assured the comptroller of his full support, stressing that the palace would continue to collaborate with security agencies to promoteote peace, stability, athe nd the development of society.

Mr Akinyemi expressed delight at the opportunity to meet with the Ooni and described the traditional ruler as a revered leader whose influence transcends cultural boundaries.

He noted that his visit was not only to pay homage but also to establish a cordial working relationship with the palace.

The comptroller restated the importance of collaboration between the NIS and traditional institutions, particularly in intelligence gathering, border control, and community engagement.

He noted that such partnerships were crucial to enhancing national security.
