One of the protesters over the abduction of teachers and pupils by bandits in three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have lashed out at President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Remi, over failure to ensure prompt release of the victims.

The protester also condemned the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, for attending the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu, Ogun State, amid the prolonged stay of the victims in captivity. 

A video showed the unidentified female protester who joined the #BringBackOurPupilsandTeachers protest in Ogun State, raining curses on Mr Tinubu, his wife and son, describing the country’s leadership as “wicked.”

The protester decried the federal government’s poor handling of insecurity, the inadequate provision of social amenities and the hardship widely experienced by Nigerians under Mr Tinubu’s administration.

“You are wicked people. We will talk and you will not take action. We are tired. We are not afraid of you. Bandits are attacking us. There are underage children in the bush. Your lives will be spoiled. You won’t succeed. Tinubu, it won’t be well with you,” the protester said.

“You will be unfortunate. Remi Tinubu, you won’t know rest. It won’t be well with you, Seyi Tinubu. Those children are in the bush.

“We don’t want a bad government again. There is no electricity, no water, no road, no food and fuel is also expensive. The affected teachers are in the bush. Children of ordinary people are in the bush. This matter is making me tearful. I cried yesterday,” she stated.

Last Friday, Mr Tinubu’s son attended the Ojude Oba festival, where participants dressed in traditional attire showcased the rich culture .

Ojude Oba, loosely translated as “the king’s fore-court,” is an annual festival characterised with pomp and circumstance, with attendance from different parts of Nigeria. 

Recall that on May 17, Michael Oyedokun; a mathematics teacher in one of the three schools where bandits abducted over 40 pupils and seven teachers two days earlier was beheaded by the gunmen.

They also killed two persons during the attack on the schools. 

The victims are still in captivity sparking protests by teachers and civil rights groups across many states on the delayed rescue efforts by both the state and federal governments.
