The sector commander explained that the truck driver did not stop after hitting the officers but was chased by motorists and motorcycle riders who witnessed the incident.
A total of 11 persons, comprising six male adults and five female adults, were involved in the accident, with an Opel Safia car and a Madza bus.
The Ogun command of the Federal Road Safety Corps says two persons lost their lives as a vehicle plunged into the Ososa River along the Ijebu Ode-Sagamu expressway.
The corps said the accident could have been averted if the truck driver had adhered to the stipulated speed limit.
The sector commander explained that the crash which occurred at 10.40 p.m. involved a truck and a bus both without a registration number.
“FRSC Ogun sector command wishes to inform the motoring public on the traffic situation along Lagos-Ibadan expressway on burning tanker laden with gas.”
The vehicle was at high speed when the driver lost control.
