The police command in Enugu says it has foiled a kidnapping attempt and killed two suspects.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, condemned the killings and described them as barbaric.
He added that investigation is ongoing to arrest his fleeing accomplices.
The commissioner urged members of the public to remain law-abiding.

A firearm with ammunition was recovered during the operation.
“They were transporting them to the New Artisan Market, Enugu, for sale. They will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations,” the police said.
There were low vehicular movements along the major roads in the state capital, Abakaliki.
The state police spokesperson stated that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation.
