It cautioned that the proposed transition to a state police structure required more careful deliberation.
He also called for tougher sanctions against politicians and individuals who engage in electoral malpractices and violence.
“We now have a presidential candidate, Mr Donald Duke. We have a total of 420 candidates we will field across the country for various offices,” said Mr Baba-Ahmed.
Mr Baba-Ahmed said coalition talks remained a possibility if they would help achieve good governance and strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
“As a northerner, I am completely comfortable supporting Donald Duke because he is the best candidate available to us, not because he comes from the South,” he said.
A former presidential aspirant, Patience Key, has resigned from the Peoples Redemption Party, stating that the party’s core values no longer resonated with her.
The ADC spokesperson further expressed concerns over “Nigeria’s shrinking democratic space under the All Progressives Congress”.
Mr Baba-Ahmed decried the rate at which soldiers and civilians are being killed.
Mr Baba-Ahmed said Nigerians are living under a “horrendous economic situation” under Mr Tinubu’s government.
Mr Onoja said civilians were oblivious to the techniques involved in handling explosive remnants.
