The driver of the vehicle was speeding before losing control and ramming the bus into the median. The bus somersaulted and burst into flames.
The passerby died in multiple accidents that involved three vehicles at the toll gate on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The Ogun state command said that 71 vehicles were involved in the crashes monitored from July 6 to July 13.
“We are also collaborating with the navy and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to maintain sanity during the Sallah festival on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”
“Even though we cannot eliminate 100 per cent crime and corruption, it will reduce the danger of having to run into security crises.”
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) spokesperson did not respond to calls and messages seeking comment on the incident.
The increase will run for three weeks to accommodate expected upsurge in passenger traffic during the Yuletide.
